Are values changing, or our expectation towards values are changing?
Once in a while I enjoy the confort of sitting in a couch or chair at the mall and play or feed the baby.
Since I got these wonderful hooks for my stroller, I can easily place grocery bags on the sides of the stroller leaving my shoulders free of pain.
One time my stroller was loaded, not only with the huge diaper bag but also with groceries. I went to my favourite spot at the mall where it’s usually free and quiet most times. But not this time. This time there was one old guy reading a book on my left side of the chair and in front of me two young guys.
As I was about to get the baby from the stroller, the whole thing tilted forward me! My first reaction was to grab the baby and let the whole thing collapse.
As soon as I had baby safe with me I started to focus on all the things spread on the ground before collecting them. Stroller, my purse, some loose items, blankets, groceries, a lot of stuff.
None of the gentlemen around me worried one single bit. They did not care. They didn’t show a bit of concern or interest. They just stayed there and continue their own thing, read their book or keep talking.
I was fine. I have always managed to do things on my own but a part of me can’t stop wondering why they did not care to offer their help.
Has the feminism been of influence for this lack of care towards a woman in help? Why the city is just not that social and helpful? Are times changing?
