It’s becoming a bad habit not checking if my wallet is in my bag prior ordering a meal at a restaurant. It happens that at lunch time, co-workers sometime invite me to tag along for lunch and I just grab my things and go. We get relaxed and comfortable and order our meals.
Sometimes I just go by myself when forgetting to cook something the night before. Then, after I order my meal and this one arrives to my table, anxiety covers me when thinking I might have forgotten my wallet. My heart pounds harder and harder and I feel a little bit frozen sitting on that chair while holding my fork. I check my purse and re-check it and in fact my wallet is there. A sense of relief runs through me and I’m able to eat my meal at ease. But,…

For a minute I picture myself as a homeless person asking for spare change among the other customers at the restaurant so I can pay for my meal. “Spare change, spare change.”
One more time, anxiety hits my brain and therefore my heart. I can’t stop thinking about this small and yet so stupid over-viewed task. Is it really that hard to check on my purse prior to ordering something, really?
