The past two weeks have been intense. My kid got sick with the flu, then my husband got sick too. Sneeze, cough, sneeze, cough. To top it all up work has been stressful, fun, but stressful with deadlines and all things grown-up related.
So when my husband hinted the idea of a visit to Science World – our local science centre – I didn’t hesitate to join them. This mama needs and deserves some good quality family fun. Sometimes I stay happily at home (because let’s face it, 4 hours doing laundry, cleaning and other things seem like a vacation some times) but this instance I pushed myself and said no to the household never-end list.
So, I grabbed my D7000 (which I haven’t used since last year) and my 35mm lens and packed my wallet. I felt rusty at first but didn’t take me long to get comfortable again with everything, I just love photography. Taking pictures put me at ease, I don’t know maybe because it puts me behind the camera, like being in the audience waiting for the show to begin? Maybe. But most importantly photography allows me to look at my sweet little daughter’s face, get in close and experience how she reacts to things for the first time. And not only in my brain this get’s registered, this also could be reproduced in print forever. This puts a BIG smile on this tired mama.
How do you unwind from your routine? What puts you at ease in stressful times?

Beautiful photos. They really do capture your daughter’s smile very well!
I love photography too – being the photographer more than the subject. I always have this thought that I would make albums for us to look at, but they tend to stay in my computer. Maybe someday, I’ll make mini books. I think looking at pictures together as a family is great quality time, don’t you think so? 😀
Nadia says
Aww thank you. I suffer from the same sin – not able to make albums from my pictures. They are accumulating and I fear if one day loose them I’d be so unhappy. I just hate how endless this task seems to be – I don’t get an immediate gratification.

she’s just beautiful! some very nice photography you have done – and after a year away!? I would likely have forgotten everything.
And you are so right – photography is relaxing. I cannot wait to get our in some nice weather and capture Spring!
Nadia says
Oh Rory, I’m lucky I don’t forget those settings.

You take awesome photos. I really wish that I had a great camera and an eye for it.
Nadia says
Oh thank you. The camera help, but mostly is the technique for shooting. A mirrorless camera (less expensive) will do.

You captured some great moments!
Nadia says
Thank you. My struggle is that I capture SO MANY great moments. I have like 1000 pictures of one day, 1 hr only. LOL. I am learning though to cull and get rid of the ones that are not a keeper.

You are a very talented photographer. I love your POV!
Nadia says
Thank you. I question my composition all the time. I tend to like ‘others’ POV better when shooting at the same subject.

These are great photos! I love going out with my kids and watching them have fun.
Nadia says
Thank you, I’m learning enjoying my kid and spend more time for myself.

Your photos are beautiful!
I love to unwind by reading a book, going for a walk or singing! Ok – dancing too, but don’t laugh, I’m terrible!
Wynn Anne says
Great pictures. I find that having the camera with me kind of forces me to really SEE what’s in front of me.

Gorgeous pictures Nadia! I usually leave my camera at home, and miss all kinds of great opportunities. Your daughter is beautiful!
