I’m super critical when it comes to my pictures. Composition, lighting, technique and most of this criticism is negative.
I was considering tossing the first picture because it didn’t meet my “standards”, but for just a moment I put my instinct aside and looked, really looked closely if there was something to convince me to do otherwise. Soon I realized I really wanted to keep it. This picture captured (poorly, but it did) the spirit, the innocence, the happiness but most importantly, the beauty of being a child and enjoying simple things in life.
Looking at it makes me happy.
1. It’s just a ride (I’m calling this picture a keeper and I’ll lie to myself thinking is “editorial”)
2. Run Milla Run
3. Love her. Oh, and husband really works out that arm.
What do you think, am I too hard on myself?
Rorybore says
Yes! they are awesome pictures! Look at the joy on her face and the light in her eye. That is a Memory — which is far better than any “technically good” photograph.
If the subject of the photo is someone you love – can it ever really be “wrong?”
Nadia says
You are right amiga, when is people you love we should not see the wrong. It’s all about training the brain at this point. 🙂
Peady says
Yes. Yes you are too hard on yourself. 🙂
These (three) photos are wonderful. There is nice scenery, action, and beautiful subject matter.
The smile on Milla’s face in the first photo would make it very, very difficult to discard. Look how happy!!
This is a lovely post. A nice reminder to not be so hard on ourselves. Mothers! Oh brother!
Nadia says
Thank you. It was very hard to discard the first photo when looking at that smile and being MY child. I had no heart doing it.

Just beautiful! I love all of them, when we look back at photos of our Son we are firstly taken with how time flies, then we are surrounded by the wonderful memories… thanks for sharing!
Nadia says
Thank you Laurie. It’s true, when I look back at those pictures, even the ones taken by the iphone, makes me realize times flies and it should be captured.

They’re fabulous. Enjoy them 🙂

Thanks Sue.

Nah, you’re not being hard on yourself. I think you’re the type of person who gives her best in everything that you do. I’m kinda like you. I’m very particular with practically all details of my photos 🙂
Nadia says
Well that is true. But, but is so hard to let go of the details sometimes and appreciate anyways. Sigh. Thanks for coming to my site.

the 2nd and 3rd picture turned out better than the first one you might want to try the settings on the program that comes with your camera theres auto exposure and color and different settings you can change the photo with
Nadia V. (Mama and the City) says
I usually don’t shoot in auto, I am all manual. I was trying the backbutton option at the time and to be honest, I take like a million because I don’t want to end up with open mouths, half closed eyes, etc… sometimes there are poorly taken in the mix, and the first one was one of them. But it had to be a keeper.

They are gorgeous! You should be super proud!

I adore the “It’s Just a Ride” photo. Great movement you’ve captured! I’m taking a couple of photography workshops and it’s so much fun gaining the perspectives of wonderful and talented photographers.
